The lake of Tasek Chini in peninsular Malaysia has long been the reputed haunt of a monster. Malaysians are up in arms at reports from the Pahang government that the area around the lake has been approved for iron ore mining. The proposals will cause untold damage to the environment as well as to the livelihood of locals upon the lake.
