Frog with tapir-like nose found in Amazon rainforest

The people of Peru’s ​​Comunidad Nativa Tres Esquinas have long known about a tiny, burrowing frog with a long snout; one local name for it is rana danta, “tapir frog” for its resemblance to the large-nosed Amazonian mammal. But until now, this frog has remained elusive to biologists. Swimmer dies in first fatal shark attack at Sydney beach since 1963

A swimmer has died from “catastrophic injuries” after being attacked by a shark at a Sydney beach.

Emergency services were called to reports of a swimmer injured at Buchan Point, off Little Bay beach, at 4.30pm on Wednesday.

New South Wales (NSW) police confirmed they had “located human remains in the water” after a search of the area.
