Description

Leptinaria unilamellata

Leptinaria unilamellata is a small, tropical land snail belonging to the family Subulinidae. It has a slender, elongated, yellowish to light brown shell, usually measuring 1.5–2.5 cm in length, with smooth, glossy whorls. Like other subulinid snails, it has a narrow, pointed shell shape.

This species is native to the Americas (particularly South America and the Caribbean) but has become widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions through human activity. It lives in moist habitats such as leaf litter, soil, gardens, and greenhouses.

L. unilamellata is hermaphroditic and reproduces rapidly, laying small, transparent eggs in the soil. It feeds on decaying plant matter, fungi, and sometimes living plants, which can make it an invasive species in agricultural settings.

Guin
Hi! My name is Guinevere (or Guin for short) and I am Exeter, Devon born and bred. I'm a single mum to two little monkeys called Muhammed (Momo) and Ibrahim (Ibby) and hope to get them as fascinated in the cryptozoology world as I am and was as a young girl. It all started for me with my dads Arthur C Clarke book about crystal skulls and my mums books on the paranormal, fairies and witches. I've grown up surrounded by the wonder of what 'could' be out there and want my two boys to be just as curious and excited about it.
