A cat-dog hybrid?

Tuesday 11th April 2023

I found the following story in the Sussex Advertiser of October 16th 1820: ” Lusus naturae: A curious phenomenon at present engages the attention of the inhabitants of Clermont, in France; namely, a little monster, the offspring of a cat and some unknown male animal. It possesses the playfulness of a dog, while its mouth, claws and teeth, resemble those of a cat. Its hair is soft, brown on the back, and white as snow on the paws and belly. It usually barks, but mews when called by its mother.”
