Belgian lynx

Tuesday 31st August 2021

Automatic camera traps had already confirmed that one of these animals, the largest known cat species in western Europe, had settled in the Ardennes region. But these photographs were taken manually, which is something very unusual.

It is heartening to see how this rare and beautiful species is spreading across western Europe. In September 2020, the SPW released a statement saying that lynx do not represent any danger to humans as they tend to avoid people, hence the scarcity of sightings. However, if the Belgians can do that, why can’t the British?
